Faith Ambassadors
Pupils from Years 2 to 6 applied to be a Faith Ambassador here at St. Ethelbert’s. It is a very important role.
They attended a special Mass at Dunstable Cathedral where they were commissioned as Faith Ambassadors as well as being a part of Bishop David's Mission Team.
Our Faith Ambassadors attended a training day at St. Joseph's Secondary Catholic School, Slough in November 2024 with other Catholic schools from our STCAT Trust. It gave them an opportunity to meet Faith Ambassadors from other schools. They also learnt different ways to pray and all about the Jubilee Year 2025. It was led by St. Joseph's Sixth Form Chaplaincy Team.
"It was a fantastic day! I learnt all about praying. My favourite way to pray was 'Playdough' prayers. I can't wait to share it with others from school".
Our Faith Ambassdors help to run Prayer Club at school each week using ideas from their Training Day. They have helped our pupils to pray a range of prayers such as 'Playdough Prayers', Map of the World prayers, Hands prayers. They led on our 'Travelling Crib' where the Christmas Story was shared with Nursery to Year 2 using Nativity figures. They plan and lead many Celebrations of the Word through the year, including Harvest, Advent and Pentecost. They also run and judge competitions throughout the year, such as their 'What does Advent mean to you?' drawing competition and chose the charity 'Children with Cancer UK' to donate the money raised from our Easter Egg Raffle.
The Jubilee Year 2025
This year, the Faith Ambassadors are very excited to help our Catholic Life Team to celebrate the Year of the Jubilee with the school. We are recording our Jubilee Journey on a map in our front entrance for all to see. Our Faith Ambassadors launched our Jubilee Year with a special Celebration of the Word in January and helped their classes to create a canvas of hope for their classroom door. The idea is that God is behind every door offering hope to us all. Take a look at their beautiful art work.
